The 2020 East China Sea Fishing Festival will be held both online and offline from Sept 16 to 19, Zhoushan Daily reported.

The festival is sponsored by the Zhoushan municipal government and organized by the Zhoushan municipal bureaus of commerce, ocean and fishery as well as other institutions.

The offline festival will be held at the National Pelagic Fishery Base in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province.

A senior official from the Zhoushan municipal bureau of commerce said that the festival this year will focus on increasing awareness among locals of the importance of protecting the marine environment and invite more companies selling aquatic products in an effort to help expand sales channels.

SF Express Co Ltd, a Chinese delivery company based in Guangdong province, will debut its interisland drone logistics project at the festival. The project will allow companies and local residents to have things delivered by drone for no additional charge.

In addition, various activities, including concerts, performances, and food festivals, will be held during the event.

The commerce bureau will cooperate with e-commerce platform Taobao.com and short-video app Kuaishou to promote aquatic products in Zhoushan through livestreaming.

The online version of the festival has been held by the Zhoushan municipal bureau of commerce for the past five years. It has not only improved the reputation and increased the market share of Zhoushan-made seafood in China, but also become an important platform for cities and companies seeking cooperation opportunities.
