A delegation of 11 Taiwan businessmen led by Lin Tianliang, standing vice-chairman of the Association of Taiwan Investment Enterprises on the Mainland, visited Zhoushan city in East China's Zhejiang province on Aug 14, local media reported.

The Taiwan businessmen were mainly senior managers of leading companies in Taiwan in the catering, environmental protection, finance and shipping industries and involved in investment in the semiconductors industry.

Zhejiang Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ) was their first stop in Zhoushan.

"Zhejiang FTZ boasts distinctive industrial features and promising development prospects," said Lin, adding that he would share this information about investing in the FTZ with more Taiwan businessmen.

During their stay in Zhoushan, they also visited the Zhoushan Offshore Fishery Base and marine industry clusters to get a full understanding of the development planning, favorable policies and investment prospects in Zhoushan.

"We would consider starting operations in Zhoushan if there are suitable purchasing channels," said Ho Kuang-ch'i, president of Taiwan-based Xiabu Xiabu Catering Management (China) Holdings Co Ltd, which has nearly 1,000 hotpot chain stores with a huge demand for seafood and meat products.

Kentex, a Taiwan-based environmental technology group, is quite well known in the international environmental protection field and has previously participated in a hazardous waste treatment project in Zhoushan.

Lin Wei-ch'eng, general manager of Kentex, noted that the company has a broad cooperation space with Zhoushan in the field of environmental protection related to petrochemical engineering, including projects, technology and equipment.

In 2018, Zhoushan rolled out 66 measures, offering favorable policies to Taiwan companies which plan to invest in the city and work with local companies and Taiwan residents who live, study, work and have started up a business in Zhoushan.
