Trial operations on the export pipeline of the Xin'ao Zhoushan liquefied natural gas (LNG) receiving station in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, began on Aug 6, according to local media reports.
The export pipeline starts from the Xin'ao Zhoushan LNG receiving station and ends in Zhenhai district, Ningbo. It has a total length of nearly 81 kilometers and was designed with an annual delivery capacity of 8 billion cubic meters.
The pipeline will offer more stable and competitive clean energy to Zhejiang and the East China area while also contributing to the development of the oil and gas industrial chain in the China (Zhejiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ).
The first phase of the Xin'ao Zhoushan LNG receiving station started operating in 2018 and has an annual processing capacity of 3 million metric tons. Its second phase is expected to begin operating in the first half of next year.
The Xin'ao Zhoushan LNG receiving station has received 33 LNG carriers with a total of 2.02 million tons of LNG since it began operating.
This year, the State Council announced its support for the Zhejiang Pilot FTZ developing into an LNG receiving center. Another two LNG projects are currently under construction in Zhoushan.
