A newly opened night market in Donggang sub-district in Putuo district, proved hugely popular among local residents, according to local media reports.

The night market, named Chaosheng Night Market, is an integral part of the district's 520 Happiness Street. The street was the only one from Zhoushan to be listed among Zhejiang's provincial level high-end pedestrian street candidates last year.

The market comes as part of efforts by local authorities to boost the local nighttime economy and improve quality of life for local residents.

The market is composed of 52 stands selling products such as local snacks, beverages, cultural and creative goods, and handicrafts. 

Unlike traditional night markets around the world, the stalls take the form of fashionable dining cars, some of which are even equipped with lights and speakers. 

A night market might be the best way to get to know a city, and the new market's strong ocean fishing culture and tasty seafood have made many decide to stay for good.
