Binhai Avenue, an arterial road in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, opened to traffic on May 28, according to local media reports.
The 47.1-kilometer road runs along the southern coast of Zhoushan Island, stretching from Lianhua Island in Putuo district in the east to the Shuangqiao Toll Station in Dinghai district in the west.
Construction started on the road in 2015, and it was jointly funded for 5.957 billion yuan ($863.3 million) by Dinghai district (880 million yuan), Lincheng new district (2.9 billion yuan), and Putuo district (2.177 billion yuan).
According to Yan Xiaobo, an official from the Zhoushan municipal housing and construction bureau, the road is a wonderful choice for sightseeing with its many local and costal characteristics.
