Dinghai to hold week-long event to promote rural vitalization

Dinghai district, Zhoushan will hold a week-long event from May 23 to 29 themed around beautiful villages to showcase its achievements in rural vitalization. The event will be held at five different venues.

The launch ceremony at the main venue in Xianjian village will witness the signing of a number of cooperation deals.

Several new tourism projects and facilities, including the Ma'ao Museum, Longtan Old Street, and Huangsha homestays will officially open during the special week. 

An official from Ma'ao sub-district revealed that a makeshift market will also be set up, where local officials will promote local specialties via livestream. 

Huangnan sub-district plans to offer a variety of activities, such as hiking, cycling, camping, barbecue buffets, music concerts, and farming activities, to entice visitors. 

Other highlights will include local folk performances and the East China Sea Self-driving Tourism Festival. 

Rural tourism is expected to serve as an engine for the recovery of the tourism industry after the epidemic, said Wang Jiatong, Party secretary of the Dinghai district bureau of agriculture and rural affairs. He added that it will help boost sales of high-quality agricultural products and promote rural vitalization. 

In addition, the district has decided to designate the last week of May each year as a special time to hold a variety of activities themed around beautiful villages.
