Updated : 2020-05-13 (chinadaily.com.cn)

Putuo district in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province will issue a total of 5.2 million yuan in coupons ($753,623) to spur consumption in cultural and tourism sectors.

The move is the latest effort by local authorities to bail out the two sectors, which have been hit hard by the epidemic, and mark the upcoming China Tourism Day, which falls on May 19.

The coupons, 140,000 in total, are scheduled to be released in three installments from May 15 to May 31.

The first installment will be issued on May 15, the second on May 22, and the final on May 31.

Coupons can be obtained on WeChat by subscribing to the official account of the Putuo district bureau of culture and radio, television, tourism and sports (ptly360).

Each set of coupons will have four different face values, namely 20 yuan, 50 yuan, 100 yuan and 200 yuan. The consumption thresholds to use them are set at 100 yuan, 200 yuan, 400 yuan and 800 yuan respectively.

Individuals can only acquire one set of coupons per installment. The total face value of coupons per person is capped at 500 yuan.

The coupons can be used in the district's hotels, restaurants, homestays, cinemas and bookstores.
