1,000-plus charging piles built in Zhoushan

Updated : 2020-05-08 (chinadaily.com.cn)

A total of 1,064 charging piles have been set up in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province to date, as the city seeks to further promote the development of electric vehicles and related sectors.

Charging piles are available in the city's main island and smaller islands such as Liuheng, Xiazhi, Taohua and Daishan.

In addition, the city has also built 23 charging stations for buses with a total of 194 charging piles. In 2020, it plans to construct another 33 charging piles at three bus stations.

A staffer from the Zhoushan branch of State Grid Corp of China, a State-owned electric utility company, said that some charging piles have been established at the entrances of highways to ensure that cars do not lose power while on the highway.

The power company has also finished upgrading charging stations, allowing drivers to access services more conveniently. Payments can be processed automatically through an app after users register their information.

The nation has called for more investment in new infrastructure, including charging piles, ultra-high-voltage grids, intercity transit systems, and 5G, to stimulate the economy and counter the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
