Zhoushan New Town will issue coupons worth a total of 1 million yuan ($141,315) for consumers to use in May, in order to boost local consumption.

There will be a total 50,000 coupons valued at 20 yuan each. Consumers can use the coupons when buying items that cost more than 50 yuan.

The coupons can be obtained through WeChat, and each WeChat ID is allowed to receive three coupons.

The coupons can be used in many shopping malls, hotels and restaurants in Zhoushan New Town.

They will be issued in two installments in May and will be valid for 15 days.
