Offshore wind generator installation base in Zhoushan to finish construction

Updated : 2020-04-10 (chinadaily.com.cn)

An offshore wind power generator installation base in Daishan county, Zhoushan, Zhejiang province will finish construction next month.

It is expected to be the province's largest center for assembling offshore wind power generators and related accessories, particularly wind power generating piles.

The project has received 850 million yuan ($120.88 million) in investment, covers an area of 25.5 hectares, and has 511 meters of shoreline.

"Daishan enjoys a good location surrounded by many wind farms and is less affected by waves and tidal currents," said a project manager.

According to the provincial electricity development plan, Zhejiang hopes to increase the installed capacity of offshore wind power to 4 million kilowatts by 2020.

The base has so far built five berths and is expected to produce 60,000 metric tons of wind power generating piles per year, generating 600 million yuan in annual output.

Project managers also expect the base to reach an annual production capacity of 100,000 tons in the future, helping boost the development of the county's offshore wind farm and obtaining a higher market share in the Yangtze River Delta region.
