Zhoushan, an island city in Zhejiang province, recently issued several proposals on further renovating its countryside.

The proposals suggest that Zhoushan strive to build beautiful, prosperous, civilized, well-governed, and livable island villages.

The city aims to build its four districts and counties into model rural revitalization districts of Zhejiang province by 2022, and plans to build 10 demonstration zones, 10 model islands, and 120 model villages.

The proposals advise the government to increase financial support and encourage social capital to join in the course.

Zhoushan started its rural renovation project in 2003 and has achieved much progress since then. As of last year, the city had built around 200 model villages and 24 3A-level scenic villages. It had also renovated 35 villages of historic and cultural interest. Putuo district, Shengsi county, and Daishan county were even honored as models of rural revitalization in Zhejiang.
