The Zhoushan National Pelagic Fishery Base has received more than 40,000 tons of goods since it resumed operations on Feb 11, according to local authorities.

"Since the base resumed operations, our company has been busy delivering goods that were delayed by the outbreak of the novel coronavirus," said Zhou Zengren, general manager of Zhoushan Huiqun Pelagic Fishery Development Co, "We still have 12 ships of goods to be unloaded."

Zhoushan Huiqun owns two 50,000-ton refrigeration warehouses in the fishery base, but due to the influence of the virus, the company has had to rent more warehouses to store delayed goods.

According to local authorities, moving forward, the base will be busy receiving ships and goods until July 2020.

The Zhoushan National Pelagic Fishery Base is located in the North Zhoushan Islands, covers an area of 5.98 square kilometers and has abundant coastal resources, including three 10,000-ton wharves.

The base mainly focuses on ocean fishing, the deep-processing of aquatic products, cold chain logistics, and shipbuilding, among other things.

In recent years, it has been striving to develop itself into an internationally influential center for ocean fishing and aquatic products.

In 2019, the base received more than 200 ships carrying 300,000 metric tons of goods.
