Community workers in Zhoushan, Zhejiang province, recently received letters of thanks from two families for providing help during the coronavirus outbreak.

The Taowan Community in Lincheng Street recently received a letter of thanks from Feng Beiwen, a 15-year-old junior middle school student. On behalf of her family, the girl thanked workers at the community for their care during their quarantine period.

On Feb 16, Feng and her parents traveled from Henan province to Zhoushan, where they were unexpectedly put under 14 days of quarantine.

During their quarantine period, workers from Taowan Community video called the families twice a day to check their health conditions, as well as help deliver food and take away rubbish for them.

Every time the community workers came to Feng’s quarantine place, they would see a sticky note on the garbage bag reading “thank you so much”.

“Staying at home is what we can do to contribute to the prevention and control of the virus,” Feng said, “I want to tell all the community workers that you are not alone in the fight against the virus.”

Officials of Shuguang village in Qiandao Street also received a letter of thanks from Ms Lyu and her husband for their help to them during the outbreak.

On Feb 14, the couple drove from Anhui province to Shuguang village and then were quarantined at home for 14 days.

Local village officials led by Liu Zhuangjie, Party secretary of the village, visited their home every day and took their temperatures.

The officials even helped refill fuel gas, deliver food and air quilts for them.

Every time when Ms Lyu expressed thanks to Liu, he would reply that this is what they should do.

“We really thank Secretary Liu, who offered a lot of help to us when we have no one to turn to,” Lyu said.
