Construction on a project for a passenger transportation center and urban plaza in Putuo district, Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, was officially launched on March 3.

The center and plaza received about 760 million yuan ($109.47 million) in investment and will cover an area of 21,200 square meters, with a total floor space of 42,300 sq m. The construction is expected to finish in 2023, according to Zhoushan Putuo Transportation Investment Development Group Co, which is funding the project.

"There used to be a passenger transportation center in our district, but is too old to handle the increasing traffic," said a manager at the company. "As a result, our company has decided to build a new one with a larger capacity and more functionality."
