A container ship cleared inspection at Zhoushan Customs and left the Jinpukou Container Dock under the jurisdiction of the Ningbo-Zhoushan Port in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, on Feb 18, carrying 3,079 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of goods.

According to local authorities, a total of four container ships left the city carrying more than 14,800 TEUs of goods. Some of the containers will be delivered to foreign countries, including Nigeria, Togo, and Ghana.

To ensure the goods are delivered safely, Zhoushan Customs has come up with a series of inspection methods in accordance with the regulations issued by the General Administration of Customs of China.

All goods should be inspected and all crew members on the ships should have their temperatures taken before leaving the city, according to the customs.

Since the start of the COVID-19 outbreak, Zhoushan Customs has been working hard to maintain efficiency while preventing the spread of the virus, officials said.

The customs has also been striving to help with emergency deliveries during the fight against the epidemic, especially deliveries of medical supplies.

A ship carrying more than 6,000 protective suits for medical purposes recently arrived in Zhoushan, and staff members at Zhoushan Customs finished customs clearance within just a few minutes.

"Local medical workers are dedicated to the fight against the virus. We can at least ensure that the suits arrive at their destinations as soon as possible," said Wu Di, deputy chief of the first division of comprehensive affairs at Zhoushan Customs.
