In addition to China Post, SF Express, and JD Express, which remained operational in Zhoushan during the Spring Festival holiday, a number of other delivery companies in the city are also resuming operations amid the virus outbreak.

Representatives from Zhoushan Daily Logistics affiliated with Zhoushan Newspaper Media Group said that the company had resumed operations on Jan 19, the fifth day of the Chinese lunar new year.

Around 10 days ago, the number of packages handled at the company increased from an average 4,000 to 6,000 per day, the representatives added.

"There were still 10 of our delivery men who had not yet returned to Zhoushan, so we got some of our other employees involved in package delivery," a representative said.

Medical supplies labeled "urgent" will be given priority by the delivery company.

According to executives of Zhoushan Daily Logistics, they have emphasized the importance of disinfecting their warehouses while resuming production.

Temperatures of delivery men must be checked every day, and they are required to wear masks while on duty.

The Zhoushan branch of China Post is responsible for delivering textbooks to primary and middle school students in the city, as Zhoushan schools are currently holding online classes due to the virus outbreak.

The branch expects to deliver 80,000 packages over the next several days, and textbooks are expected to be delivered by Feb 17, according to executives of the branch.

In order to make living necessities more accessible, Zhoushan authorities released a notice asking the city's delivery companies to resume operations.

According to the notice, delivery companies are required to apply for permits to enter residential communities and to disinfect regularly.
