Zhoushan traffic police squad promotes online services

Updated : 2020-02-17 (chinadaily.com.cn)

The Zhoushan Traffic Police Squad has been promoting online services since Feb 1 to prevent locals from catching the COVID-19 epidemic while maintaining daily services, according to local authorities.

"Our traffic administration center would previously receive over 600 visitors per day. However, because of the epidemic, we decided to promote online services among locals since the beginning of February," said an official at the squad. "By the end of Feb 12, we had handled more than 60,000 cases online. Only one visitor came to the center in person, on Feb 12."

According to local authorities, the squad has also established several hotlines to receive calls from locals and help them with their difficulties. On average, each telephone operator answers nearly 100 calls every day.

For the convenience of locals, the squad has been cooperating with the Zhoushan Municipal Postal Administration and giving newly issued driving licenses and vehicle license plates to applicants.
