Legal aid departments and institutions in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province dealt with 2,204 cases in total, saving over 44.4 million yuan ($6.46 million) in economic losses in 2019.
In recent years, the city's municipal government has been striving to provide better legal aid services to vulnerable groups, especially migrant workers, through the Zhoushan Legal Aid Center and other relevant departments and institutions.
Last year, the city's legal aid departments and institutions received 6,888 calls and visits from migrant workers for legal advice and offered assistance in 1,195 cases, recouping more than 2 million yuan in unpaid wages, according to the data released by the legal aid center.
"This year, the city will continue to improve legal aid services by broadening application and reception channels as well as building professional legal aid teams," said an official at the center.
