Zhoushan introduces high-end talents to boost characteristic industries

A Zhoushan-based information technology company has been optimizing a newly created maritime navigation app which is expected to be opened to the public in March 2020.

Wu Deren, founder of the company, said that ocean fishing enthusiasts can look up the distribution of different sea creatures and find their favorite places to fish through the app.

According to Wu, the company is expected to earn more than 50 million yuan ($7.2 million) in 2020.

In recent years, the city of Zhoushan, Zhejiang province has been working to cultivate high-end scientific and technological talents and boost local industries, especially the marine industry.

Wu Deren was attracted to the city through a high-end talent introduction and entrepreneurship project.

Thanks to the project, more than 200 enterprises with over 2 billion yuan in registered capital were established by newly arrived high-end talents in the fields of electronic information, biological products, new materials, and new energy, among other areas.

The total output value of these enterprises in 2019 amounted to 400 million yuan. Sixty-five enterprises have won provincial titles.
