Qian Liyong, a doctor at Zhoushan People's Hospital in Zhoushan, Zhejiang province, inspected a pathological section sent by Daishan County First People's Hospital through an online consultation platform on Dec 21.

This was the first section of its kind to be inspected through the platform since it was launched on the same day.

The platform was jointly established by Zhoushan People's Hospital and other six hospitals in the districts of Dinghai and Putuo, and the counties of Daishan and Shengsi.

Qian is the director of a remote pathological section consultation center equipped with the platform at Zhoushan People's Hospital.

According to Qian, as hospitals on islands have been short of professional doctors that can inspect pathological sections, patients at those hospitals had to send pathological sections to the hospital by themselves if the sections had not been diagnosed, and this proved was very inconvenient for them.
