Two rural innovation and entrepreneurship bases – an ecological agricultural park and a seaside fish farm – in Zhoushan, Zhejiang province were recently designated as provincial-level bases by the Science Technology Department of Zhejiang Province.

The ecological agricultural park mainly provides comprehensive professional services to farmers and entrepreneurs in the Putuo Rural Complex, helping them solve problems in planning, marketing, cooperative development, and infrastructure construction, among other things.

The seaside fish farm was established with the help of the Marine Fisheries Research Institute of Zhejiang. It focuses on innovative research and the commercialization of research findings in seedling breeding and disease control, as well as other areas in the fishing industry.

In recent years, the city has been promoting the construction of rural innovation and entrepreneurship bases, and has issued a series of incentive policies to this end. If a base wins a provincial title, it will receive 500,000 yuan ($71,360) in financial subsidies.

The city currently has five provincial-level rural innovation and entrepreneurship bases providing technological services to farmers, companies and entrepreneurs.
