Three volunteers – Zhu Cunyue, Zhu Shunzhou and Yang Xiuqing – in Putuo district, Zhoushan were recently awarded provincial titles for their outstanding voluntary services by the Zhejiang provincial government.

Zhu Cunyue is one of the founders of the Zhoushan Online Association for Volunteers. The association currently has over 2,500 members.

"It is not easy to run the association. I once considered quitting, but didn't because I wanted to help more people," said Zhu Cunyue.

He has organized a great number of voluntary activities, including chair fairs, donation activities, and heart-warming activities.

Zhu Shunzhou is the president of the Aibang Volunteer Association in Liuheng town. His association currently has more than 900 volunteers and several specialized teams offering medical care, haircut and home appliance maintenance services to locals.

The association has organized over 500 volunteer activities to help the elderly and disadvantaged children.

Since 2016, the association has donated clothes and school supplies to over 300 students in poor households in Sichuan province and Tibet autonomous region.

Yang Xiuqing is the head of a volunteer team with over 1,000 members in a local community in Putuo district.

"I've spent a lot of time, energy and money on voluntary activities over the past few years, but I've gained a lot as well. Helping others makes me happy," said Yang.
