A total of 11 projects in Zhoushan recently won provincial titles for their success in attracting foreign talents to Zhejiang province, according to the province's department of science and technology.

The projects mainly focus on medical treatment, marine environment protection, molecular biology, oil products, communication equipment, quick freezing technology, desulfurization technology and development of the China (Zhejiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone.

A satellite communication equipment project funded by Zhongxin Marine Satellite Communication Co Ltd was designated as a provincial key project.

According to local authorities, since the beginning of 2019, the city's bureau of science and technology has been working to attract skilled foreign workers and technologies.

So far, the bureau has attracted 1,144 foreign workers to work on 25 projects focusing on petrochemicals, marine products, naval architecture, and ocean engineering, among other industries.

In the first three quarters of this year, the city's total contracted trade value of technologies surpassed 3.9 billion yuan ($554 million).

To date, Zhoushan has won four provincial awards for its scientific and technological achievements.
