A new academician and expert introduction platform was officially launched on Zhujiajian Island in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province on Oct 31.

The platform, which is considered to be an upgraded version of the academician workstation, is called Zhihuidao in Chinese, literally meaning "island of wisdom".

The construction of the platform was approved by the government office in charge of academician introduction and was completed under the guidance of the city's bureau of science and technology and other related institutions.

Local authorities believe that the platform, which is based at the permanent site of the International Islands Tourism Conference, can help introduce more academicians and experts into the city and drive its economic and social development.

Zhang Donghui, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Science and Zhoushan native, decided to join in the platform and support the development of the city.

Zhoushan has been dedicated to the introduction of academicians in recent years. So far, 29 city-level and seven provincial academician workstations have been built in the city, said officials.
