A walking activity was held on Oct 27 in Shengsi county, Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province.

More than 2,500 people from all over China participated in the event. They were divided into two groups – a leisure group and a competitive group.

The leisure group walked an 11-kilometer route which showcased the landscape in the local countryside.

The competitive group passed by several scenic spots including a seaside road with a provincial title known for its idyllic scenery and a fishing village famous for its art scene.

The organizers of the activity also arranged several interesting games and performances showcasing local customs in order to liven up the proceedings.

The activity was held by the county’s bureau of culture, radio, film, television, tourism and sports under the guidance of the county government.

According to local authorities, Shengsi has been focusing on the integration of sports and tourism in recent years.

The county has held several sports competitions since the beginning of the year, including a kabrathon competition, a beach volleyball competition and an international women's road cycling competition.

The county will hold more sports competitions and other related activities in the future to boost the integration of sports, tourism and even culture and drive the development of the local economy, said officials.
