Daishan county recently hosted the Nanjing portion of a petrochemical industry entrepreneurship competition in Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu province.

The county, under the jurisdiction of Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province, has been focusing on the development of the local petrochemical industry in recent years, said officials.

The event attracted over 80 high-end projects to the preliminary round, focusing on different aspects of the petrochemical industry, including the production of new petrochemical products, catalyzers and additives.

A total of 21 projects stood out in the preliminary round and were asked to give road shows under the supervision of professional judges.

Six projects were then selected as the winners of the Nanjing portion of the competition and will participate in the final round.

According to the organizing committee, winners of the final can receive financial support of up to 10 million yuan ($1.41 million) if they decide to base their companies in the county.

Daishan has built a new industrial park covering an area of 2.57 square kilometers in order to introduce more high-tech enterprises and drive the development of the local petro chemical industry.

The county held the Qingdao portion of the competition in August 2019 in Qingdao, Shandong province and attracted nearly 100 leaders, experts and students in the petrochemical industry.
