An international kabrathon contest was held on Oct 20 in Shengsi county, Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province.

The kabrathon contest, which refers to a triathlon consisting of kayaking, cycling and running, attracted more than 500 contestants from eight countries.

The contestants were required to complete an eight kilometer kayak race, 42 km bicycle race and 11 km cross-country run within five hours.

The route passed through several tourist attractions and ran along the coast of Shengsi, giving contestants a taste of the local culture and scenery.

"The landscape in Shengsi is very beautiful and charming. I'd love to take my family on a trip there," said Qu Ying, a female contestant.

The event was held by the Shengsi county government and Zhoushan municipal bureau of culture, radio, film, television, tourism and sports under the guidance of the Zhejiang provincial sport bureau and Zhoushan municipal government.

The county will hold more sport competitions in the future in order to boost the integration of tourism and sports and drive the development of the local economy, said officials.
