Zhoushan promotes services for expatriate talents

Updated : 2019-10-16 (chinadaily.com.cn)

Iemasa, an expatriate talent from Japan, recently obtained his work permit after a single visit to a service center in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province.

In recent years, the city has been striving to improve its services for foreigners in order to attract more talents.

The city has already implemented paperless application and one-window services for foreigners applying for work permits and residence permits, and reduced the time required to complete the examination and approval process from 45 to seven days.

By the end of September 2019, 2,105 expatriate talents had enjoyed the new services.

Previously, foreigners had to make at least four trips during the work permit application process because the procedures were complicated and involved various departments and institutions, said Fan Luteng, an official at city's bureau of science and technology in charge of expatriate talent introduction.

Fan added that, in addition to the improved services, the bureau has also set up a foreigner work credit management system which allows employers to check their foreign employees' work credit status.
