The opening ceremony for the Shengsi station of China's beach volleyball tour was held on Oct 10 in Shengsi county, Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province.

After the ceremony, there were 48 matches during the day, according to the organizers.

The Oct 10-13 contest has attracted 36 men's volleyball teams and 36 women's volley teams.

Group stage games will be held on the first three days, and the final will be held on the last day.

The beach volleyball tour was launched in May, 2019 in Pingtan in Fujian province. It has since traveled to many cities, including Nanjing and Chongqing, before it came to Shengsi county. This is the fifth year that the county has welcomed the tour.

According to local authorities, Shengsi is the only national archipelago scenic area in China. The volleyball players and coaches said that they were impressed by its beautiful landscape.

Officials said that the county has been focusing on the integration of local culture, sport activities and island tourism.

Since the beginning of 2019, the county has held a series of large sport events, including an international women's road cycling competition in May, which attracted nearly 90 athletes from 15 countries.
