The district government of Dinghai in Zhoushan sent out 22 epidemic prevention teams to spray disinfectants throughout the district on Oct 2 after Typhoon Mitag wreaked untold amounts of havoc.

The teams also taught local residents how to protect themselves from post-typhoon epidemics.

Staff members of the Dinghai health department inspected water plants in the district and gave seriously affected areas second inspections in order to ensure the safety of water resources.

By the end of the day, Dinghai had dispatched 939.4 kilograms of disinfectants, disinfected an area of 21,000 square meters and nine wells, and handed out over 7,000 epidemic prevention flyers, said local authorities.

According to the Zhoushan disease control and prevention center, four emergency teams led by local officials were sent to Dinghai, Putuo and New Town districts for epidemic prevention.

Mitag is the 18th typhoon of 2019. It hit Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province on Oct 1.
