ZJOU professor elected academician of IEAS

Yan Xiaojun, a research professor at Zhejiang Ocean University (ZJOU), was recently elected academician of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences (IEAS), according to the academy's China Science Center.

According to experts, the non-government academy, which is made up of scientists from all over the world, aims to facilitate worldwide academic exchange, especially in Europe and Asia, and now has over 600 academicians from 46 countries including China, France, and Australia. Its selection procedure for academicians is very strict.

Professor Yan, director of National Engineering Research Center for Marine Aquaculture at ZJOU, has won many national and provincial titles and is a globally esteemed expert in modern marine resource biochemistry.

He has published six monographs as well as over 170 SCI articles, which have been cited for more than 3,500 times, and he has obtained more than 90 authorized invention patents.

The newly elected academician also won 10 national and provincial honors, including runner-up for the State Science and Technology Advancement Award.

The technologies developed by Yan's research team, related to algae resources, were highly successful both scientifically and commercially, said local authorities.
