China's first trackless railway port container station was officially launched in the comprehensive bonded area of Zhoushan Port on Sept 25.

The station was built by China Railway Shanghai Group and Ningbo Zhoushan Port Co and is China Railway Shanghai's first trackless railway station.

Thanks to the station, containers can be directly transported from the Ningbo railway freight yard 90 kilometers away to the comprehensive bonded area of Zhoushan Port, allowing clients to pick up goods and return containers in the area.

According to local authorities, the station will be able to recycle containers for China Railway Shanghai, save costs for clients and promote the development of combined rail and water transportation services in Zhoushan Port, further reducing logistical costs.
