The ninth "Daishan Cup" National Maritime Literature Competition concluded in Daishan county, Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, with 58 works getting awards on Sept 21.

The competition, hosted by the Chinese Prose Society, the Zhejiang Writers Association and the government of Daishan, was launched in March and received submissions from 2,120 writers throughout the country.

Of the 58 winners, 19 were from the China Writers Association.

The competition has been gaining popularity over recent years, receiving more than 44,000 works from over 28,500 writers from home and abroad to date, according the organizing committee.

"The competition has now become a branded literature event in China and helps promote Daishan to the outside world," said Xu Xun, vice president of the Chinese Prose Society.
