Chengxi community in Zhoushan, Zhejiang province, was named on a list of 24 communities in Zhejiang to pilot the construction of a "future community", according to a recent announcement made by the Development and Reform Commission of Zhejiang Province.

The future community, included in the provincial government report this year, is defined as an iconic project for the province's urban development to make cities more people-oriented, environmentally friendly and digitalized.

"We will concentrate on improving nine aspects to build the future community – neighborhood, education, health care, entrepreneurship, architecture, transportation, energy, real estate and urban governance," said a project leader of the Chengxi future community project.

Local residents in the community will be able to enjoy one-stop cultural and medical services in the future.

They will also have intelligent logistics services to get their goods delivered to their homes within 30 minutes, and use public facilities powered by new energies such as solar power and wind power, said the project leader.

He added that the project will arrange 925 apartments to resettle some 2,775 local residents, and 2,085 apartments to accommodate top-flight talent brought in from other places.
