Having a great time at New Year celebration in OC, ZJU

It was the mid-autumn holiday, when I spent my first week discovering the island. My classmates took me to Dinghai for hiking, as we made our way up the mountain, we stumbled upon tombs of our ancient ancestors who fought for the island during the Opium War with the British during the1800's. From then on my interest grows to know more about the history of Zhoushan. Zhoushan is indeed an island of many infiltrated pre-historic amenities, rich in history that dates back as far as the 1700's. I have visited many historical sites such as the Nadong, Mount Putuo, Nanshan etc. But, one of the most intriguing places I have visited is the "Ghost Island" known as the Shengshan Island. There are places in this world that seem to have been forgotten by mankind and even time itself. These strange, abandoned locations are often thrummed with activity and may have even been vital at one time, yet for one reason or another their legacy has become a faded memory, buried under the inevitable passage of the years. These are the forgotten relics of humankind, mere shells of what they once were, imbued with the echoes of lost memories and inhabited by the ghosts of the past. It is extremely breathtaking as I approach the area, the telltale right-angles and hard shadows of architecture stand out from the vines. Gradually, the realization dawns from the gorge leading down to the choppy blue ocean filled with man-made structures, and reclaimed by creeping ivy. It's a primordial tableau. If I was ever a filmmaker, my first film would have been featured on that island.
