A science education summer camp for teenagers opened in Dinghai district, Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province on July 2, the first of its kind in the city.

Co-organized by the city's science and technology association, youth activity center and a local committee for next generation care, the summer camp took 50 teenagers to many of the city's science education bases, including museums, schools and ocean exhibition halls, to increase their understanding and appreciation of Zhoushan.

Zhoushan has begun organizing science education activities for teenagers in recent years, looking to teach them about local marine culture and raise their awareness of ocean protection, local organizers said.

According to the city's science and technology association, the summer camp will help cultivate innovative and practical skills in the younger generation through experience and practice.
