A truck carrying 28 metric tons of fresh potatoes from Dazhou, Sichuan province, recently arrived in Zhoushan, Zhejiang province.

The truck was bringing the first batch of vegetables that Zhoushan has received since it signed a cooperation agreement with Dazhou on April 10 to buy the latter's vegetables as a way to help it alleviate poverty. 

According to the agreement, the first order will involve a total of 3,000 tons of vegetables, including 500 tons of potatoes.

Thanks to its strong climate, ample sunlight and rich soil, Dazhou is able to produce high yields of tasty, nutritious vegetables. 

The cooperation not only enriches the dinner tables of Zhoushan residents, but also helps Dazhou sell its local vegetables. The cooperative effort is expected to lift more than 380 households and 1,100 people in eight Dazhou villages out of poverty, and increase their income by around 5,000 yuan ($724.22) per household.
