The coastal city of Zhoushan in Zhejiang province is going to have its own tanker for its bunker fuel supplies, in the wake of the start to the construction of the vessel on June 10.
The tanker was independently designed and is to be independently built by local Hetai Shipbuilding Co, marking the first bunker fuel supply ship built by a domestic company in China.
The tanker, the Runji 1, will be 96 meters long, 16 m wide and 7 m deep. According to a spokesman, the tanker conforms to the requirements of international bunkering ports in Singapore and the Netherlands, while also taking into consideration the conditions in Zhoushan Port.

Industry insiders say the tanker will help with the city's bunker fuel supplies and enhance the overall competitiveness of Zhoushan Port.
Zhoushan Port supplied 1.51 million tons of bunker fuel during the first five months of the year, up 12.86 percent year-on-year.
