The fifth Chinese Seaman Sills Competition will be held in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province on June 25, according to an announcement from the organizing committee on May 29.
The competition, hosted by the Maritime Safety Administration and the National Committee of the Chinese Seaman & Construction Workers' Union, aims to promote marine culture and improve the abilities of Chinese seamen in order to better serve the Belt and Road Initiative.
Participants will be divided into three groups – shipping companies, shipping universities, and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan representatives – and will compete in many events, including triathlon, ship route design and ship collision avoidance.
Zhoushan has been designated by the Ministry of Transport as the permanent venue for the annual competition.
In addition to the competition, there will also be an investment fair for the maritime service industry, an international forum on seaman services, and a fair for seamen to showcase their skills.
