The 2019 Tour of Zhoushan Island, an annual international women's road cycling competition in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, kicked off in the city's Shengsi county on May 21.
As one of the top cycling events in Asia, the competition attracted nearly 90 cyclists from 15 professional teams in Asia, Europe and North America.
It consists of a single-day race and a multi-day race, covering a total distance of 254.4 kilometers.
A Vietnamese cyclist won the single-day race championship, and her team also won first in the team category. Two Japanese cyclists finished second and third. The second and third prizes in the team category went to a Japanese team and an American team, respectively.

This is the seventh consecutive year that the event has been held in Shengsi, China's only national-level island scenic spot, which boasts breathtaking ocean scenery and challenging roads.
Shengsi county has been focusing on combining tourism with sports in recent years and will strive to turn the cycling event into a major tourist attraction, said Jin Feizhen, director of the local department of culture, television, radio, tourism and sports.
