The 2019 Zhoushan Archipelago New Area Science and Technology Week opened on May 20 in Dinghai district, Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province. 

The activity, co-organized by the city's science and technology department, publicity department, and the science and technology association, is designed to showcase the city's latest technological achievements and educate local residents on science basics.

Several new vegetables and fruits were available for local residents to taste, such as a special wax gourd that can be eaten raw, and a few questions from local farmers regarding the problems they have encountered were answered by experts. 

All of the science promotion facilities, universities and research institutes in Zhoushan will be open to the public until May 26, giving local residents free access to a wealth of science and technology resources.
