The first "Fisherman's wife in East China Sea" family cultural festival of Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province opened on May 11 in the city library.

"Fisherman's wife in East China Sea" is originally a joint nickname of local fishermen's wives, and has now become a complimentary expression referring to all women in Zhoushan. 

Co-hosted by the local publicity department and women's federation, the festival will see 12 activities being held in the next two months in recognition of women's important role in family and society, as well as to promote a peaceful, harmonious, civil and well-educated family.

Typical activities include family story sharing, a cooking competition among wives, and a campaign to promote good family education. 

Many touching and inspiring family stories were already shared at the opening ceremony, and some of the best families in the city were commended by the organizing committee.
