A civil festival to promote the role of family and women in the society was held in Daishan county, Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province on May 12. 

Citizens wrote down words expressing their love for their great motherland China on a large board and took photos with their parents. Children and parents had a lot of fun in many parent-child activities such as painting portraits of their parents.

There were also 30 local female volunteers providing free clinical services, hair cutting and legal counseling services. 

"We also showed some of the best family stories and family photos, in order to promote a sound family tradition to drive the progress of social civilization and make our county a happy place to live in," said Tao Mengna, vice-chairwoman of the local women's federation.
