The Zhoushan stop of the 2019 CCAT City League Ballroom Dancing Championships was held in the city's Putuo district on April 19.

Hosted by the China Ballroom Dance Federation (CBDF) and the Putuo government, the competition saw the participation of ballroom dancers from all across China and many other countries such as the United States, Russia, Australia, Japan and South Korea.

The participants were divided into various groups including teenagers, adults, college students and professionals and competed in two categories – Latin dance and modern dance.

The championships were initiated by CBDF in 2017 to promote ballroom dance in cities where it has little presence and has attracted tens of thousands of participants in recent years. This is the first time that the championships have been held in Zhoushan. 

Several famous dancers were invited to give a special performance and lecture to promote the dance.
