Two vegetable markets in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province recently implemented e-price tags for produce, local media reported on April 2.
The intelligent e-price tag enables synchronous update of products or price changes and provides more convenience to customers.
An electronic display unit is placed at each booth, instead of traditional plastic or paper boards, with details of each product shown on it, such as the name, price and bar code.
"The price of vegetables varies from day to day. We used to manually change the price on the plastic board with handwriting, which leads to more mistakes and complaints from customers," said Yang Fukang, manager of one of the two markets.
"With the e-price tag, we can simply change the price on a computer, and the display unit will update the information immediately," added Yang.
According to Yang, as the e-price tag begins to feature more standard procedures and is better recognized by customers, it will make it easier to adjust prices and reduce operating costs.
