Six export companies in Daishan county, Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province are now able to ship urgent goods immediately thanks to a new "green channel ticket" provided by the local government.
The ticket, co-issued by the bureau of economy and information technology and the department of transportation in Daishan, is designed to give priority to local export companies who need to ship their goods in emergency situations.
Key foreign trade enterprises in the county with an annual export value of more than $3 million are qualified to apply for the ticket. Each company can apply for a maximum of five tickets per year.
"For the duration of this year, the six companies can use the ticket to ship their goods by ferry as long as they make a reservation half an hour in advance," said an official from the local bureau of economy and information technology.
As an important part of the county's efforts in supporting foreign trade enterprises, the issuance of the ticket will significantly shorten the time foreign trade products must wait before being shipped, thus reducing unnecessary loss caused by late delivery and boosting the local economy.
"Before the issuance of the ticket, we sometimes had to wait until the third or fourth ferry before we got our goods shipped," said Yu Qiongyan, an executive from a local filter exporter, adding that the company's reputation was threatened due to late deliveries.
"With the help of the ticket, I'm more confident of our company's potential in cracking the European market," said Wang Daixiang, director of a local toy company.
