Women dress up in hanfu for flower festival in Zhoushan

A group of women recently dressed up in hanfu, a traditional Chinese costume of the Han people, to celebrate the third Flower Festival in Putuo district, Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, and attracted the attention of many tourists. 

The festival was hosted by the Putuo Museum, and organized by the city's and district's Han culture associations. 

It was held at Shen Yuan, a house built in memory of a Korean girl who married a man in Putuo district, and which symbolizes the Sino-Korean friendship.

"The festival was held to get more local residents to learn about this traditional part of Chinese culture," said Qian Ying, chair of the Han culture association of Putuo.

Local residents enjoyed many interesting activities related to traditional Chinese culture, such as paper cutting, wreath making, tea ceremony practicing and Han music appreciating.

The Flower Festival is one of the traditional Chinese festivals of the Han people and is popular in many areas of the country. It falls in the second month of the lunar calendar, during which people will go on a spring outing in groups to enjoy the beauty of the booming flowers.
