An English letter from a foreign sailor arrived at the exit and entrance counter of the public bureau in Liuheng town, Putuo district, Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province on March 7 to thank the staff there for completing emergency visa processing for him in a fast manner.
The sailor, Mr. MYO from Burma, went to the counter on March 6 asking for an immediate return home due to the sudden passing away of his father.
Officials in the counter streamlined the procedures for him at once after confirming his story with the authorities of the port where his vessel was berthed and the related ship agency, shortening the processing period from seven working days to just a couple of hours.
Mr. MYO asked one of his colleagues to write the thank-you letter to the counter on his behalf as he was leaving China.
The counter has improved its visa processing work in recent years by conducting efficient collaboration with the local exit and entrance frontier inspection department, ship agencies and other related parties.
It has also streamlined administrative procedures, strengthened professional training of staff, upgraded working mechanisms and applied advanced machines to enhance its services.
