The firefighting authorities of Zhejiang province conducted a drill in Zhoushan from Feb 26 to 27 to improve the province's fire emergency response ability.

One hundred and fourteen fire trucks and 460 firefighters from Hangzhou, Shaoxing, Ningbo, Jiaxing and Zhoushan took part in the drill, together with other departments in Zhoushan in the fields of public security, transportation, environmental protection and sanitation. 

The drill simulated the handling of a fire caused by an explosion in a petrochemical company on an island. 

It is so far the largest-scale and highest-level joint exercise in Zhejiang involving the most military personnel and the best equipment. 

It tested the overall emergency response capability of the province's firefighting forces and the coordination between them and other departments.
