The fourth session of the seventh People's Congress of Zhoushan convened on Feb 15, at which Mayor He Zhongwei delivered an annual report to reflect on the work of the government over the past 12 months and lay out a plan for year ahead.
In general, the city's economy maintained stable and sound growth, and society was kept in harmony, according to He.
He pointed out that the GDP of Zhoushan in 2018 saw an increase of 6.7 percent, and the total foreign trade hit 100 billion yuan ($14.76 billion), up 44.9 percent over the previous year and ranking first in Zhejiang for foreign trade growth.
For the year of 2019, which marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, He stated that the city government will strengthen development in every aspect of life to make bigger achievements for this historic year.
Specifically, the government will focus on developing modern services, accelerating efforts to enhance coordination in the Yangtze River Delta region, and improve the business climate by deepening administrative streamlining reform, among other things.
